Woman Accuses Kenyon Harrold’s 14-Year-Old Black Son of Stealing her Phone

A viral video featuring a woman accusing a young black teen of stealing her phone from her Uber has been making waves on the Internet. The accused turned out to be the 14-year-old son of jazz musician Keyon Harrold, who caught the incident on camera and shared it on his Instagram account over the weekend.

The incident occurred in the lobby of Arlo Soho, a luxury hotel in New York. In the video, the woman can be heard repeatedly yelling “Show me my phone!” to Harrold’s son while the young boy held his own phone. The woman was also seen to be urging the hotel manager to get her phone back from the boy, to which the manager attempted to do so. She would not allow them to walk away and aggressively tried to grab Harrold when he and his son tried to leave. The jazz musician explained that the woman also scratched, grabbed, and tackled his son.

The Instagram post further stated that the woman was no longer a hotel guest during the incident, to which Harrold expressed his disappointment about how management responded to the issue. According to him, the woman checked out of the hotel on December 23rd, while the incident took place on the 26th. It was also mentioned that the woman’s phone was returned to her by an Uber driver just minutes after the events that took place.

The video has since received over 1.5 million views, with several people showing their support and love for the jazz musician and his son. In an interview with Times, Harrold said that he was worried about what would have happened to his son had he not been there. He explained that he has seen people get hurt or killed for even smaller reasons.

This incident is merely one out of many that show how impactful the Black Lives Matter protests truly are. Thousands of people continue to protest in the street to fight against racism and injustice from police brutality and other racial violence in the US. While some protests have turned violent, these were only done to send the message loud and clear.

Remarkably, the movement appears to be working, turning into a global phenomenon and possibly the largest movement in US history. It has stormed the Internet and made waves all over social media. People from all over the world, whether it be the US, UK, Spain, Canada, or another country, have also taken to the streets to show their support for the movement.

Global solidarity has proven to be effective, lending people a voice against violence and brutality against black lives. As people continue to protest, justice is slowly being served, showing how impactful the movement is.

Going back to the incident involving Harrold’s son, the hotel and police have since launched an investigation on the matter but have not revealed the name of the woman in the video. Arlo Hotels has also issued a public apology to Harrold and his son, stating that their behavior and response had been inexcusable.
